a taste of Anthem....

This here is a rough draft of the appeal letter to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, on their decisioin on calling Miles diabetes pre existing..... those syco people.... grrrrr, haha, no seriously they must be syco...

To whom it may conern,

My 3 yr old son, Miles James Taylor is being denied coverage due to a so called “pre existing” condition of Diabetes. Now our policy effective date was July 1st, and we were told we could go to the Dr at any point from then on. Now, my son had been on our policy up untill April ’09, and then we took him off due to not being able to afford it any longer. My husband is a youth ministor, and does not get insurance through the church. On the 1st of July we went to our childrens Dr. for a check up, since he had not been there since April. Now, keep in mind Miles is 3, I mentioned to the Dr. that he had been wetting the bed at night, and was thirsty, I had him checked out for a UTI, and they also took a blood glucos check. NOW, you tell me what 3yr old does not wet the bed and is thirsty…. BUT, you are telling me this is considered a pre existing condition, WHEN NO indication of Diabetes was ever detected before, no diagnoses no nothing. If my son was a “pre existing” condition, as you are classifing him, well, he would be dead. What insulin depend diabetic can go without their insulin… NONE. And, how can you even put children into a category where they will be faced with clauses such as pre existing?? My son has only been alive for 3 years….. he dosent even know how to read and write, but you are telling me he has a pre existing condition? He dosent even have all his teeth yet! I know you are an insurance company and you are going to do your best to NOT pay out... We have tried EVERY other avenue to get this financial nightmare taken care of, and frankly no one can believe the stance you are taking, they are appaled and disgusted. With this all said, please make the right moral decision to drop the pre existing title. Thank you.

Sincerly, a mother trying to take care of her child,

Christina

Hey Christina, Jess Glasier here, you don tknow me, I'm a friend of Bryces from NZ. Have just read your letter to your insurance company and have nearly cried. As a Mum of 2 little boys also (Noah 4 & Isayah 1)I understand your passion for justice. I just want to say don't give up! Rememeber Jeremiah 29v11. We may not know today, tomorow, next year, 10 years, or ever what God had planned for each of us, but we can have complete and utter faith that he DOES have a plan.
Love to meet you one day,
God Bless,
Love Jess Glasier

Christina...FYI...when the insurance company deined my brother's cleft palate repair because it was "oral surgery" despite the fact they were required to pay it, we finally contacted our state legislators about it and told the insurance company we were doing so and they paid up soon after. Just to help with this rediculousness.
